This is the annual ranking of the best citites to live in 2009 made by the magazine AskMen.

The particularity of this year, is that world has been affected by the global recession, it naturally influenced the indicators like cost of living and economic stability carried greater weight than they might have in different circumstances. There are also other criterias such as: Liveability, sports and entertainment, culture , fashion, health, power and money, dating and sex, good life and the most relevant one for a man: the average cost of a pint of beer in bar...

This list is diverse but it has in common: they're great cities for Men to live in.

9th: COPENHAGEN

Happiest people in Europe and most number of breweries. Green reputation, outgames mean lots of unaccompanied women.

8th: HONG KONG

Diversity, many restaurants and beautiful wome; Global business center and New west kowloon cultural district.

7th: BERLIN

Affordable and cultured anf the Berlin festival. Bread & Butter fashion fair and strong soccer team.

6th: NEW YORK CITY

Huge variety of entertainment and dining. Opportunities and closeout deals.

5th: SIDNEY

Stylish, fit women and a healthy population. New bars opening up, low unemployment, World masters Games 2009.

4th: LONDON

Diversity and Prestige. Preparing for the 2012 Olympics and others major sporting events.

3rd: SAN FRANCISCO
Parks, bars and tech stars. Mission bay developmen, outside lands music and arts fests.

2nd: BARCELONA

A distinct culture, beautiful nearby beaches and a healthy economy.

1 st: CHICAGO

Fine culture and geasy food. Lollapalooza, the Haws and the Cubs.

This ranking is very interesting but it has been done by men and besides american men, so I think it didn"t reflect the general opinion and maybe yours.
